Regular Riders: Spotlight on Doug Moore
There’s a reason why Doug Moore has “the” in front of his name. He’s a 1 of a kind original and if you bike in Baton Rouge, you should be glad he’s around.
Doug is one of those people you meet and you just know he’s cool. HE will never say that, but you just know it.
He will also not give himself enough credit for all the work he’s done to make Baton Rouge a better place to bike. As the president of Bike Baton Rouge, he pushed people to pay attention to bike infrastructure. He also probably parked your bike for you if you rode one to the Blues Festival.
I first met Doug during the Capital Heights Social Ride. It’s a weekly group ride that has been going for many years, and is a bit of the model for which I based the structure of the Downtown East Social Ride.

Since then, we’ve gone on, I would dare say nearly a hundred, bike rides together. He frequently leads a group to the Bluffs at Southern University, a ride I have never done with him but intend to do one day.
Thanks for riding with us, Doug!!!!!!
