The Importance of Bike Lights
Last week at White Light Night, I biked down Government Street and was excited to see so many people moving about by bike. However, I noticed that nearly every bike I passed was unlit. Lights are essential for safety, ensuring cyclists are visible to drivers and pedestrians. Next year, let’s aim to distribute lights and educate our community about their importance during this event. Together, we can make a difference!
Shining Bright: Light Up the Night Campaign
Our Light Up the Night Campaign is getting all charged up, thanks to the generosity of Chloe Accardo, Joe Skaggs, and our incredible partners at Bike Baton Rouge. Their donations have given us enough funds to purchase our first round of bike lights!
Special thanks to Bike Baton Rouge for matching our largest donation, doubling our impact. Together, we’re making Baton Rouge’s streets safer and brighter. Bike Baton Rouge is planning on holding a meeting in the beginning of the new year to discuss how the organization is going to operate moving forward and recruit new board members. I’ll announce it in this newsletter when that information is made public.

Upcoming Events
Friday, December 6th: Join BREC for the annual Reindeer Ride! Starting at 6 PM from Farr Park, the ride will take you downtown for the Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration.
Monday, December 9th: DJ Bird (Chris Culotta) leads our regular ride! Starting at the Electric Depot, we’ll head to SoLu, near BREC Extreme Skate Park. Note: This longer ride will be faster-paced and isn’t recommended for young children.
Sunday, December 15th: Chris Culotta hosts a special Holiday Lights Ride! Meet at BREC’s Skatepark at 5:30 PM and cycle through Kenilworth to admire festive displays.
Saturday, December 21st: Let’s join City to City Riderz for their final ride of the year. Meet at 6:30 PM at 200 North Blvd for a pre-Christmas celebration ride.
Holiday Schedule Update
As the holidays approach, we’re taking a short break from our regular rides. There will be no rides on Monday, December 23rd, or December 30th. We’ll resume our adventures on Monday, January 6th, ready to kick off the New Year in style!

Big news from our friends at Front Yard Bikes! They’re hosting a moving sale through the end of the year as they prepare to renovate their building into the Youth City Lab. This innovative space will empower the next generation of leaders in Baton Rouge. Learn more about this exciting project here.
