CORRECTED LINK for podcast episode
Sorry, folks! I sent out the wrong link for the podcast in the last email.
It’s important to celebrate victories, especially when they involve bicycling in Baton Rouge. The wins don’t come around too often, but last week the passing of a new ordinance has the Red Stick standing out for a good reason.
Introduced by District 11 Councilwoman Laurie Adams, the ordinance requires businesses to serve people if their lobby is closed. Basically, if you provide a service to someone in a car, you have to provide that same service to anyone, no matter how they arrive at your business.
Why does this matter? Former Bike Baton Rouge president Doug Moore breaks it all down in this special episode. The recording occurred at the public Bike Baton Rouge meeting held the night before the vote.
COMING UP THIS WEEK
Join me on Saturday, January 22 for a special bike ride. We will meet at the Capitol Park Museum and will go by bike to the Old South neighborhood to discuss aspects of the new exhibit titled “The Yellow Book.”
PITCH IN IF YOU CAN
I’m currently raising money to build a Little Free Library for the Downtown East neighborhood. Funny enough, the man constructing it for me is… DOUG MOORE!
The money raised will go to pay for the supplies of creating the library and anything extra will be used to purchase bike lights. I hope to use the library as a way of distributing lights to those who need them. I will also attach an air pump to make it a little mini bike repair station.
